Julie opened the boutique in February 2005 after having worked for many years as a seamstress and dressmaker for a couple of uk bridal manufacturers.
Her wealth of knowledge in dress styles, fitting, altering and dress design means that a dress bought and altered at Gowns & Garters will fit like no other.
A couple of days before Julie opened the doors of Gowns & Garters she stood in front of a huge mirror that had been hung in the main fitting room.
As she stood looking at herself in that mirror, she thought “Oh my God, I really do hate my thighs!”.
It was this moment that made her realise that almost every bride who stands in front of that mirror will think the same about some part of themselves.
Thus, it is far more than just selling a wedding dress and fitting it. It’s about helping you to make the most of your figure, encouraging and supporting you if you’re not entirely confident, and helping you to find your perfect dress.
Julie fits and alters all dresses purchased from Gowns & Garters and extends her expertise to other members of your bridal party if they need their outfits altering as well. She also offers the Alteration Service to brides who have not ordered their gown from Gowns & Garters.
Saffron has worked at Gowns & Garters for over six years and has a wealth of experience in helping brides find their perfect dress.
