Gowns & Garters was established in 2005 by Julie Mattingley in Thrapston, Northamptonshire. We have a wide range of designer wedding dresses for brides from size 6 to 34.
We have a stunning and broad collection of designer labels that we keep fresh by buying the latest trending styles several times a year. We have wedding dresses for every bride and every wedding, no matter your setting. Known for our personalised and friendly service, we ensure that each bride receives the care and attention she deserves.
At Gowns & Garters, we believe in quality and curate our collection of designer dresses with great care. We like to take the stress out of finding the right dress, and strive to make every bride’s dream come true with our exquisite gowns and accessories.
We provide expert advice and guidance, helping brides choose the perfect dress for their special day. Our shop carries renowned designers and we cater for all sizes of bride, from petite to plus-size. We are the longest-established stockist of the stunning Australian brands, Essense of Australia and Stella York, having carried them since we opened. Julie opened the boutique in February 2005 after having worked for many years as a specialist seamstress and dressmaker for several UK wedding dress companies.
She uses this knowledge to select the labels that use the highest quality fabrics and construction methods to ensure you have the best dress for your day.
And of course, her wealth of knowledge in dress styles, fitting, altering and design mean that a dress bought and altered at Gowns & Garters will fit like no other.
Saffron
Saffron joined Gowns & Garters shortly after it opened. She has a wealth of experience to share with you about finding a dress that not only looks good, but feels good too.
She understands the alterations and bespoke work that’s possible for a dress and can advise you how to make your dress truly unique during your bridal appointment.
She is lovely, but a bit camera-shy, so when you meet, please tell her a picture would look lovely on our website!
